Planning for all this spontaneousness

Roy Williams • 10 February 2023

Point me in the right direction...

We're getting the itch again... Betsy's been over-wintering in a barn and we're looking to start heading out again in March in a free and spontaneous fashion. And that’s meant loads of planning.

There’s maps and site guides all over the dining room table and I’ve been introduced to a couple of online resources which have helped no end.

I’ve managed to combine Google’s MyMaps feature with researching the searchforsites website and we’re making progress.

Initially, we’re looking to head out for a refresher trip to Broadway and a new Morris Leisure acquisition, Poston Mill, but then the plan is to go bonkers.

I blame Robson Green for the first bit. Don’t know if you’ve seen his Weekend Escapes series on BBC 2, but he’s been showcasing Northumberland and it’s been a revelation.

That led us to the NL250 - the north east’s NC500 - so that’s the first part of the MyMaps planning. Providing nothing’s fallen off at Broadway and Poston Mill, that’s the next trip.

Then it’s south. Wherever that might be.

It’s definitely Dieppe, because we’ve booked the ferry crossing. Hopefully, it will be a bit further than that.

Plan is, France, Spain, Portugal and France again. I’ll let you know how we're getting on.
