original fiction

Eric the Stunt Cat

‘Eric’ is the story of an over-confident cat of no particular pedigree, but with the arrogance (and, more often than not) the ability to back up his claims to be the most brilliant feline of his or any generation.

That was before the run-in with the Reliant Robin, of course. When you’re doing that stunt where you lie in the road and let the cars drive over you by lying squarely in the middle, it’s always best to check the next one in the queue isn’t a three-wheeler…

'Eric' is available as an e-book on the LeanPub platform. Get it while you can, here.

I'm looking to rework Eric as a picture book. I'll let you know how that goes...

The Knights of Dwain

The ‘Knights of Dwain’ was a response to the excitement that developed around the release of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, based on the Tolkien epic.
The idea came over one or two too many glasses of ‘Old Wife Beater’ in the bar of the Tayleur Arms in Longdon on Tern, between Telford and Shrewsbury.
And, like all fiction, it started from a couple of facts mixed in with a dollop of plausible deniability to create something approaching madness.

Sadly, the pub burned down in circumstances totally unrelated to the story.

The pub's been rebuilt, but the story remains unfinished, despite the encouragement of its many (one or two) fans in Belgium, of all places.

Cook It!

Here’s the start of (see the pattern here?) my take on Saturday morning cookery shows. The idea was originally to stage it in village halls with local performers and see where it went from there.

I’m still fascinated with all facets of TV cooking shows, so I need to revisit…

The characters include

Jeremy Monkfish: Celebrity chef, handsome, uber-Lancashire host of the Saturday morning cookery show Cook It!

Henley Hardy-Honeydew: Ageing celebrity chef, former host and now a guest on Cook It! Posh name belies rough edges.

Melanie Macadamia: Celebrity chef, guest on Cook It! Raven-haired Scottish cook prone to wearing low-cut tops. Known in the industry as ‘Melons’.
